This is a project from graduate school, modified a bit. The original design was with my colleague/design-team-partner, Melissa Mcall.
The project is a ferry terminal off of Lake Michigan in Chicago. The concept started from a sketch model, which had rotating green areas at each level, including a green roof and green house. The current path along Lake Michigan is integrated with the building with a slight jog. The building program includes a museum, restaurants, a cafe, lounge and bar, theater, bike shop, a waiting and ticket area, and an area below the building for cars to drive into the ferry boat.
This project was an assignment from graduate school consisting of four different buildings, 2 high-rise and 2 mid-rise multi-family residential units along the boardwalk in Barceloneta, Barcelona, Spain. I worked with another student, Melody Zarakol on this project. This is a remake of our design modeled in REVIT and rendering in Twinmotion. Our design studio professor that guided us through our design is Xavier Vendrell, professor at UIC.
Academic project remake of a spa. I named it Healing Waters in reference to the bible. The concept of water continues throughout the space with its color, clarity and reflectivity. Furniture and lighting was imported from a default REVIT Library and REVIT City families. Materials on chairs were imported from fabric images online.
Academic project remake of a public space for one to get away in the hustle of working in the city. This would be a place that surrounds one with the greenery of nature and the sound of water flowing. Color and refraction are added to the space with colorful gems.
This is the second Spring Semester teaching students how to how to build a 20′ x 20′ x 20′ house in REVIT while creating a set of working drawings for it. Renderings were processed on the cloud. This is the final result from each lesson.
This is a remake of an academic project, purely conceptual. The objective was to design a place in which friends would congregate. The design stems from the book of acts, chapter 2 in the bible in which the disciples of Jesus gathered together in a place.
Most of society thinks that church is a building in which religious people congregate, yet according to the bible, in the new testament, church was held in various homes. There was not just one place where Jesus and his disciples met.
“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Per what is in the bible, church is where God’s presence resides and where believers gathered together for the purpose to worship, hear the word of God, fellowship, pray and sometimes, eat and drink.
I wanted to emphasize the idea of gathering in fellowship for the Lord. You can watch a movie with friends or play games, but there’s nothing greater than gathering together with others to worship the Lord and pray together.
There’s a significance with the number three in the bible: Father, Son, Holy Spirit, also known as the trinity. Thus, the triangle represents the significance of the Trinity with its three sides. The step down at the center is a space for people to sit around in a circle and in the front-center is a fire place to create warmth. Walls are set on the outside around the space to block view of the inside of the space at certain angles, yet looking straight forward would allow for complete visibility. A skylight sits directly above the circle, letting in sunlight during the daytime and displaying the stars and moon at night.
This is a remake done on REVIT from a school project. The intent was to design a small unit that would combine with other units as a part of a homeless shelter. The idea was extracted from a cardboard box, which can fold and be easily transferred to various locations.
